Trolley Wheels, Windang (AD082R)

At the end of the 19th Century, attempts were made to build a harbour within Lake Illawarra to enable ships to load coal and lead. A trolley and rail system was used to transport rocks from Windang Island to create a break wall that quickly succumbed to heavy seas. These wheels are a reminder of the failed attempt to tame the power of the ocean.
